Shotton Hall School

P+HS has put together the design strategy for Shotton Hall Life Park’s new community facilities. This development, with a value in the order of £130m, brings together the public, private and voluntary sectors to provide an exciting vision for the future – a new “Communiversity”.

Ian Mowbray, Head of Shotton Hall School, said “Co-located services in Education, Sport, Health, The Arts and Retail will make the concept of a one-stop shop a living, breathing reality. People of all ages will become learners for life as the park inspires them to become engaged in a whole new range of opportunities.” The scheme was launched at the CAN (Community Action Network) Conference “CAN do schools” on the 17th November at Shotton Hall School to introduce the vision for new opportunities. CAN’s vision is to stimulate new, entrepreneurial ways to tackle social problems more effectively and more efficiently. CAN achieves this by connecting people in communities, bringing together those from voluntary and not-for-profit organisations with the public and private sectors. This enables the sharing of ideas and practical experience, and encourages ‘thinking outside the box’.

CAN focuses on the practical delivery of the social entrepreneurial approach, whilst continuing to stimulate government, public and private sector thinking, both on the method and the importance of this approach for social regeneration.

Illustrated here are some initial images from the range of new buildings being proposed.
