Our work

Ochre Yards, Gateshead

Set on the south bank of the Tyne, next to the famous High Level Bridge and just upstream from the new Sage Music Centre , Ochre Yards will be home to 600 apartments occupying the site of the Greenesfield Railway Works and the historic Gateshead Station, which was once the terminus of the main East Coast line where passengers for Edinburgh would disembark to cross the Tyne.

P+HS developed the original competition winning proposals for Bellway Homes, and then co-operated with EDAW to develop the masterplan which retains existing buildings which include the listed Station Hotel and Pattern and Boiler Shops.

The new apartments range from ‘triplex’ apartments and penthouses overlooking the river to studio ‘City Bases’ for weekly commuters and will incorporate original materials and features salvaged from the site.
