Innovation Centres, Kirkleatham
P+HS were commissioned by UK Steel Enterprise to build their third Innovation Centre following an ‘invitation only’ design competition.
The building is central to UK Steel Enterprise’s programme to encourage new businesses, providing a mix of workshop and office space suitable for technology based firms who share support facilities.
Fully occupied within weeks of opening, its success is demonstrated by UK Steel’s decision to ask P+HS not only to extend the existing building but also to build a similar ‘sister’ building in South Wales which was completed in October 2003, and another in Hartlepool completed in 2006. 2007 sees us extending the Welsh building as the success of the scheme demands more lettable space.
The Kirkleatham building won the 2002 Redcar and Cleveland Design Award.
