Our work
Healing arts, Any new building
We’ve been strong believers in the use of art installations as part of the overall healing environment, bringing light, life and colour into buildings to aid recovery. We work closely with the stakeholders of the building to evolve a strategy – either with users’ contributions or by bringing in established artists to contribute works.
Often, the seed-funding comes from central organisations, like the Arts Council, who are able to put together a range of differing artists to suit the particular installations. Sometimes, the artists are there specifically to work with the users to create a range of local works particularly relevant to the building itself. Installations can be fun, such as the brick installation illustrated here by 101%Art, colourful [where we work with the artists to evolve a colour scheme for the building] or more complex 3D installations, sounds and light.
P+HS contribute by sponsoring artwork and recently helped the Friarage Hospital Arts Fund to complete the new paediatric department in Northallerton.
