Earl's House MH, Earls House Durham
P+HS has been working with this Trust for a number of years, initially with a new Mental Health unit for Older People at Earl’s House in Durham, a similar unit at Bishop Auckland Hospital and more recently as part of a PFI bidding team for the further expansion of the Earl’s House site.
The original Earl’s House development was timber frames, a relatively new solution for mental health services, but able to deliver a robust solution ideally suited to its service users in rapid time. The Bishop Auckland scheme, converted from a former maternity hospital, was shortlisted for the Hospital Design Best Mental Health development in 2005.
