Cherry Knowle MH
The Cherry Knowle commission is for the £50m redevelopment of a large mental health hospital in Sunderland. P+HS has been working with Laing O’Rourke and the Procure 21 team to develop the Outline Business Case to Public Sector Comparative.
The scheme is unique as we are working alongside the Prince’s Foundation, developing a masterplan for this site which will integrate the hospital’s buildings with private housing and other community facilities. Working with the Prince’s Foundation the NHS selected 5 new hospitals as exemplars. Cherry Knowle is the only mental health scheme. Wide community consultation included an “Inquiry by Design” involving staff, clinicians, service users, the local population and politicians.
