Cardiac Theatres, Middlesborough

P+HS designed new cardiothoracic operating theatres, an intensive care unit and cardiac out-patients’ department at the James Cook University Hospital in Teesside.

This project, helping to tackle the local population’s coronary problems, was inserted into the existing hospital’s infrastructure, fitting the theatres out within an existing space over functioning departments.

With a very short 2 year period from award of the scheme to the Trust to first-patient treatment, the scheme was delivered on time and under budget.

We’ve carried out a whole range of complex projects on site at James Cook over the last 15 years, including:
  • Endoscopy department
  • Theatres, ICU and Outpatients departments
  • Maternity redevelopment
  • MRI and CT scanners
  • Linear accelerators
  • Teaching areas
  • Ward refurbishments
  • Renal outpatients
  • Main entrance
