Rowland Holmes-Smith BA DipArch RIBA

Rowland founded P+HS Architects with Chris Potter in 1983 after working in private practice in Middlesbrough.

Specialist skills include housing, masterplanning and planning work, where his projects include:

  • Feasibility studies and option appraisals for commercial developers and housebuilders
  • Planning advice for private sector clients, including appearing at Planning Appeals and Call-In Inquiries and dealing with Local Plan allocations, housing design and Green Belt issues.
  • Housing schemes for ‘blue chip’ housebuilders throughout the North-East of England.
  • Office and Workspace schemes for the Regional Development Agency
  • Urban regeneration work for housebuilders, housing associations and local authorities.
  • Masterplanning major residential development schemes, ranging from the 600 unit Ochre Yard development on the Tyne to 1,200 home Urban Extension to Scarborough which forms part of Yorkshire Forward’s Urban Renaissance strategy for the town and is being considered as a demonstration project by the Prince’s Foundation.
